Concealed hinge technology for glass doors

Concealed hinges set the trend. The hardware technology should be as invisible as possible and provide a puristic appearance. This applies all the more when filigree glass comes into play as a material. For Fensterbau Frontale 2018 Basys is expanding its “Pivota DX Glass”, developed for glass doors, into a system. The hinge with mounting box forms a unit with the lock including lock case and handle. The components are finely coordinated in design and are flush with the frame.

With the “Pivota DX Glass” Basys adapts the CE-certified and proven technology of its concealed hinges without any ifs and buts for use on glass doors. The frame part disappears in the frame, the leaf part in a box screwed and thus clamped to the glass door. The connection created in this way guarantees high strength in the long term. The components can be mounted in the proven way.

The box, which surrounds the leaf part of the hinge, matches the frame size. It is made of solid aluminium and offers a wide range of surface design options, allowing the design to be adapted to the decorative fittings and the lockable and therefore object-suitable lock case. Magnetically held cover plates ensure that the hinge looks screwless.

With the “Pivota DX” product family, Basys developed a complete range of concealed hinges. With load capacities from 40 to 350 kilograms per pair, it covers the entire range of doors. These can be opened up to 180 degrees with the hinge, have maintenance-free bearings and can be adjusted in three dimensions. When used in glass doors, in conjunction with the fully functional lock, they ensure that the door closes soundproof, for example in offices.

At the heart of the hinge series is the patented design principle consisting of a symmetrical four-arm hinge, which evenly transmits the forces of the door leaf into the frame. Different load-bearing capacities of doors can be covered thanks to the material hybrid with hinge dimensions that are identical in milling. Basys builds exclusively on steel, stainless steel and aluminium and uses these materials in a balanced manner within the framework of hybrid technology, depending on the load-bearing capacity requirements: The higher the weight of the door, the more steel components are used.

This makes the system universal: On the one hand, wooden doors can be exchanged for glass doors and vice versa, and on the other hand, a uniform architectural approach can be pursued, preferably in larger buildings with doors made of different materials.
